Mensafreitische

(english below)

Mensa Card Grants

Students who are financially struggling have the possibility to obtain a grant for their Mensa Card, also known as „Freitisch“ (free table).

There are two different kinds of Mensa Card grants/free tables: first, the semi-annual grants by the student service; second, the monthly grants that is provided by the student body of the University of Hannover.

Both grants can be requested in the AStA services offices in the main cafeteria (Callinstraße 23, 30167 Hannover). The monthly free tables can be picked up in the month following the application date. Your application (including the bank account statements of the last two months) has to be submitted by the 20th of every month! You can collect the money for the grant on any day of the following month. The authorized amounts are based on the number of received and valid applications and range between 30 and 55 Euros.

The semi-annual grant can be applied for until the 15th May/15th November. Those who receive a semi-annual grant will be informed by letter. Unlike the monthly free tables, no credit is loaded onto the card. There is a daily balance, which can’t be accumulated; it will be forfeited if it is not used daily.

When applying for any grant, appropriate documents to verify your income and expanses have to be submitted aswell. The grants cannot be combined with each other: those who already receive a semi-annual grant, are not entitled to monthly grant!

This support is addressed only to students in need!

You can download the application forms for the semi-annual grant here. Please send them to the AStA Service Office (service [at] asta-hannover.de) via e-mail when filled out.
